Shropshire Anglers' Federation
MAIDS POOL
Maids Pool
Calling all pleasure anglers. The Shropshire Anglers' Federation has obtained the lease of a pool within 3 miles of Shrewsbury. The pool will be administered on a day to day basis by a group known as "The Maids Pool Angling Group".
What is it like?
It is about the size of Mousecroft Pool with an island and is surrounded by trees. Even when the wind is blowing the pool is still protected by the surrounding woods. The owners have provided a hard standing area for parking with foot access across two small fields. When we first visited the pool it was totally overgrrown however the owners have cleared a path to the pool and around two sides. Greg White and Martin Cowley have; with some assistance cleared roughly half the bankside vegetation and trees. Without their help we would have struggled as it had not been touched for 15 years when it was originally stocked with a variety of coarse fish. The pool does not lend itself to match fishing and can be described as a tranquil spot on the edge of town.
The way forward
A steering committee has been set up under the Chairmanship of Trefor Jones. The committee consists of Clive Talbot, Marc Roberts and Martin Cowley.
Up until now we have recieved interest from around a dozen anglers and we would like to hear from anyone who is interested in joining the group.
