STATION BRIDGE
(The Gay Meadow bank)
Station Bridge
The Station Bridge section is small. 50 yards of right hand bank fishing situated directly upstream of the Station Bridge in Shrewsbury. This section was originally around 500 yards long, but due to development work on the site of the old GAY MEADOW (Shrewsbury Town Football club), a large section of the bank has been fenced off and is not currently accessable.
Normally the haunt of the winter Pike angler, this short section has also produced good speciment Perch plus Roach and Dace shoals to be found through the winter months.
The river here takes on a very slight right hand bend before passing under the bridge. A very difficult section to find due to the lack of parking nearby, access is normally via the CASTLE WALK footbridge and Castle Meadows as the access from the Wakeman School end is closed due to the development work. It is also very overgrown and relatively underfished. Many slacks to be found on the 'inside' with plenty of overhanging branches for those predators to hide in.

Please note that bank clearance here is not a priority and the bank becomes very overgrown during the summer months. The photo above was taken late winter.
