Early Summer Carp.......This cracking common was taken by regular Adam Williams. Adam used 8lb mainline to 6lb bottom and free-lined bread to temp this wonderful 'Top Twenty'.

You never know what will turn up....

Roger took this sea trout whilst fishing the

Belvidere stretch. By the look of his hands,

I'd say he had it on bronze maggot !

A cracking  floodwater Barbel taken by Alan Doughty

Autumn 'Bream Surpise'....... This 5lb 6oz Bream was a welcome surprise for Alan on a recent Barbel fishing trip. His first ever Severn Bream, it snaffled his 'special meat' mid morning on feeder tactics.

The potential of the Rea Brook..........This quick snap shows a fine mixed bag of Roach, Dace, Barbel, Chub and a Grayling. Regular all-rounder Adam Williams took all of the fish on float fished maggot, Feb. 09.

Another 'Death Rig' removed from a fish at the Monkmoor fishery, only this time the fish was not so lucky. In fact it was dead.

This type of setup is strictly banned,

the same can be said for anyone found using this type of setup.

All leads and feeders must be running, or mounted using a safety clip that allows the weight to come free of your mainline should a breakage occour.

Fantastic, late autumn Barbel for Alan Moorhouse, his only bite of the day and well worth waiting for. Fish of the Month.

Roger managed to sneak out a Barbel before the end of the 2009-2010 season. One of the very few Barbel caught it pulled the scales round to a hefty 8lb 10oz. Worthy of fish of the month if not the only fish of the month!

This fine Salmon was taken from the weir pool late July 09.

Alan's account of landing Lucky Jim.

The "bite" occurred when I turned around to get a drink of water and heard my rod crash as it was pulled off the rest. I quickly picked up my rod and wound in to find that a length of line had been caught on my hook. I grabbed the line and started to pull and wind it around my water bottle when I felt a kick and realised to my disgust that a barbel was attached to it. I eased the barbel into my landing net and rested it before weighing it in at 7lb 2oz and removing the death rig.

2011 season

This little fella brightened up a cold day too....

Roger with his fantastic winter '8. Freezing cold day, water temp 2c, air temp minus 2c.

Tommy deserves a mention here for the patience he has shown, rewarded with a small Barbel and a fantastic looking Chub.

< .........which concluded with this plump looking Barbel that pushed the scales to just over the 10lb mark. This fish was taken on the last day of the season and by the look of the sky it was his last cast. Roger has enjoyed a fantastic end to the 2010 season catching over 45 Barbel in the last few days alone. A fantastic achievement even by his own admission. Roger has possibly caught the most number of specimen Barbel this season ever. The tally must be well over 40 specimen Barbel and at least a dozen double figure fish which is just astonishing and an incredible feat.

He certainly wins our first ever prestigous 'Angler of the Year'  award. Well done Roger.

Dave Bickle. FOTM
